What the job involved
Jacketed vessels for a paint manufacturer, built in 4 mm mild steel at 1000 mm diameter and 1000 mm height. The shell was rolled and seam welded, the jacket fitted with inlet and outlet nozzles, and the agitator mounting and support legs fabricated as part of the same assembly so the vessel arrived ready to install. Both the inner shell and the jacket were leak-checked before the vessels left the works — on a jacketed vessel a leak between the two is invisible until it contaminates a batch, so the check is not optional.
